The new menu item is made in partnership with novelty cake maker Adams Cakes; it marks the arrival of the Autumn Equinox as Brits head into longer and darker nights, 1605 plotter Guy Fawkes (from The Gunpowder Plot Immersive), will give away FREE Black Velvet Cupcakes on the morning of launch encouraging Brits to indulge in the darker side.

The iconic Red Velvet Cupcake is getting a dark and moody makeover as the insta-worthy Black Velvet Cupcake arrives in London this Friday (22nd).

 NEW BLACK VELVET CUPCAKES ON THE MENU AT THE CROWN & BARREL

The new menu item has been made in partnership with award-winning novelty cake maker Adam Cox of Adams Cakes, to mark the arrival of the Autumn Equinox as Brits head into longer and darker nights. Adam is a go-to cake designer for celebrities including Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Carr, and many more. The visually striking, limited-edition dessert will go on menus at The Crown & Barrel; restaurant and bar of The Gunpowder Plot Immersive at Tower Vaults at the Tower of London across two weeks* at £4.50. Paying a tasty tribute to the dark and eerie events that The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 is known for, the Black Velvet Cupcake has the same tasty greatness as the Red Velvet but with a darker ‘explosive’ twist. Instead of the vibrant scarlet cake base the Red Velvet is known for, the Black Velvet Cupcake will feature a delicious jet black fluffy sponge, paired with a soft grey cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with charcoal seasoning and edible black glitter for an added wow factor. Take a bite - and get a ‘explosion’ of popping candy for added measure - it’s a treat for all the senses.
